Schneider Electric, a France-based energy management and industrial automation provider, has appointed David Hall as president of its UK and Ireland (UK&I) region, succeeding Kelly Becker who has held the position for the past five years according to a Drives & Controls report.

Hall will spearhead strategic growth in an area Schneider regards as pivotal to its ambitions in Europe. He will report to Laurent Bataille, executive vice-president of Europe operations. Hall and Becker will work together to ensure a smooth transition.

Hall, an electrical and electronics engineer, has held senior positions at Schneider Electric for nine years, most recently as global senior vice-president for industrial automation strategic accounts. Before this, he led the UK&I Power Systems business, overseeing the shift to renewable generation, electric vehicles, electric rail and shore-to-ship electric charging.

Laurent Bataille linked the appointment to the region's sustainability transition. "The UK and Ireland are both taking decisive steps towards a more sustainable future, electrifying, automating, digitalising and decarbonising their industries, buildings and power grids. The net-zero economy in the UK alone could be worth £1 trillion (€1.2 trillion) by 2030," he said.

Hall stated that the energy transition is accelerating following Schneider's recent multi-million pound investment into operations such as its smart manufacturing plant in Scarborough. "I am thrilled to lead a strong team as we deliver even greater impact for our customers and partners, helping them to realise the commercial benefits of decarbonisation," he said.

The appointment positions Schneider Electric to strengthen its role as the region's trusted energy technology partner whilst supporting local economies and driving industrial competitiveness through sustainable progress.
