Robert Burdock, Site Operational Excellence Lead for Ireland at Ipsen Manufacturing Ireland Limited (IMIL), joins the judging panel of the Operational Excellence Awards 2026, bringing extensive experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, cultural transformation, and operational discipline to the evaluation process.

In his role at Ipsen, Burdock fosters and grows the Operational Excellence culture across the site, leveraging his expertise in Lean and Six Sigma frameworks to deliver the Operational Excellence training programme and mentor colleagues in operational excellence tools and techniques. His work focuses on promoting new ways of working that create change-agile environments, driving a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and learning at all levels within the pharmaceutical manufacturing site.

Burdock holds responsibility for preparation activities for the Shingo Assessment, a globally recognised framework for operational excellence that evaluates organisations against principles of enterprise excellence. His experience developing and sustaining a culture of excellence at the Ipsen Dublin site positions him to assess entries through the lens of both technical rigour and cultural maturity.

His judging criteria will emphasise proven people management and leadership capabilities, strong communication and organisational effectiveness, attention to detail, and the ability to execute results while managing complex operational challenges. Burdock's track record in solving equipment issues and leading change initiatives across regulated pharmaceutical environments ensures entries are evaluated against standards that balance innovation with operational discipline.

As part of the independent judging panel, Burdock will assess submissions across multiple categories, ensuring entries demonstrate measurable impact, strategic alignment, and sustainable performance improvement. His pharmaceutical sector expertise brings particular insight to entries addressing compliance-driven excellence, process optimisation in regulated environments, and the integration of continuous improvement methodologies within quality-critical operations.

Winners will be announced at the Operational Excellence Awards 2026 ceremony on 27 May at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, where Ireland's operational excellence community will gather to celebrate achievement across the sectors.
