UK insurance group InsurEvo has selected Carlow as the base for its European operational hub, establishing a dedicated centre for its travel insurance brand JustCover and creating 22 new jobs across operational support, IT, HR, and administration functions.

The Tuam Herald reported that the hub will be based on South East Technological University's (SETU) Carlow campus, marking the first corporate client in the university's new Corporate Services Building.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in the United Kingdom, InsurEvo Group Limited's expansion into Ireland is designed to establish the country as a central operational hub, supporting both its business activities and European growth through JustCover.

Chris Rolland, group CEO of InsurEvo Group, said: "As a leading international business, InsurEvo is serious about backing the expansion of one of our Group businesses — JustCover — in Ireland. Our strategic decision to commit to creating 22 new jobs is good news for both the sector and the South East region at large."

Peter Clark, director at JustCover, said: "Carlow is an energetic, ambitious town with a rapidly growing skills base. The ongoing transformation of SETU and the wider South East makes this the right place for long-term growth, innovation and job creation."

David Denieffe, SETU's chief operating officer, described JustCover's decision to locate on campus as a strong endorsement of the region's talent base and the calibre of graduates emerging from the university.

Maeve McConnon, head of financial services at IDA Ireland, said the decision reflects the attractiveness of Ireland as a location for foreign direct investment.
