Newry-based packaging supplier Hub Packaging has acquired Clonmel firm Faleen Sales Ltd, extending its operational reach across Ireland, as reported by the Irish Independent.

Completed in April for an undisclosed value, the deal strengthens Hub Packaging's presence in Munster and expands its access to the meat processing sector through Faleen Sales' customer base and expertise in strapping and packaging accessories.

The acquisition forms part of a five-year growth strategy targeting turnover of more than €50m, with plans to scale operations across Ireland while maintaining a focus on long-term customer relationships and service-led growth.

The deal builds on a 15-year relationship with Faleen Sales' owner, the late Paul Ronan, and was completed by mutual agreement following his untimely passing.

Paul Ronan Jr, director and company secretary at Faleen Sales, said: "I am delighted that we have concluded the sale to Hub Packaging. We have been impressed by the Hub Packaging team in every respect, particularly their sensitivity during this difficult period for my family. Hub Packaging have grown considerably over recent years, focusing on delivering certainty, quality and a great experience for customers. This made them the obvious choice. I know my dad would have loved to be here to lead the final stages of the handover between the two family businesses."

Commercial director Russell Brennan said: "Our relationship with the Faleen team was built over many years and rooted in shared values, mutual respect and a commitment to supporting customers. We are pleased to honour those plans by ensuring continuity for customers and carrying forward the strong relationships Paul and the team built over many years."

Founded in 1977, Hub Packaging has grown turnover from €4m to €25m over the past decade, employing 45 full-time staff across three generations.

Hub Packaging serves over 3,000 customers across Ireland and the UK and has confirmed Aberdeen-based Packed Up will also join the Hub Packaging Group.
