Inflight services provider dnata Catering & Retail has launched Aer Lingus’ new inflight retail programme, extending its long-term partnership and reinforcing operational excellence across the Irish airline’s network.
The five-year agreement complements dnata’s existing five-year hub catering contract, covering over 180 daily flights across Dublin, Shannon, Cork, and Manchester.
Under the programme, dnata manages the entire retail chain, including sourcing, procurement, warehousing, and technology provision. The service integrates customer feedback to personalise onboard offerings and improve operational efficiency.
Robin Padgett, CEO of dnata Catering & Retail, said: “This partnership takes our collaboration with Aer Lingus to the next level – uniting our expertise in catering, retail, and technology to create an exceptional onboard experience. Together, we’re delivering a modern, data-driven retail programme that celebrates Irish brands, improves efficiency, and enhances passenger choice.”
The onboard range blends local Irish brands such as Sculpted by Aimee, Tan Organic, BPerfect, and The Smooth Company with international selections. Seasonal items for the festive period include the turkey and stuffing sandwich and Christmas cheese and cracker box.
Adrian Dunne, Chief Operations Officer at Aer Lingus, added: “The addition of inflight retail to the existing partnership we have with dnata will drive significant operational benefits, whilst enhancing our customer experience at the same time. The programme will be delivered via a new crew iOS app, which will allow for a data-driven product range tailored to our customers’ preferences and proudly showcasing a wide selection of Irish brands.”
The initiative uses dnata’s integrated retail technology ecosystem, enabling contactless payments, real-time analytics, and self-serve reporting. The new service is expected to serve more than 10.5 million passengers annually, driving operational improvements and innovation across retail and catering functions.
