Irish drinks group C&C Group, owner of Tennent's Lager and Magners Irish Cider, has taken full ownership of Glasgow craft brewery and venue Drygate Brewing, acquiring the remaining 51% stake it did not already hold for a total consideration of €900,000 (approximately £775,000), as part of a deliberate strategy to consolidate its premium and craft beer portfolio.

The Herald reported that C&C had previously held a 49% share in Drygate through a joint venture with Heather Ale Limited, a subsidiary of family craft brewers Williams Brothers, which operated the Glasgow facility independently of both joint venture partners' existing businesses.

The total consideration paid by C&C for Drygate Brewing was €900,000, comprising €400,000 for its existing 49% equity interest and €500,000 for the additional 51% equity interest acquired from Williams Brothers.

C&C stated that the primary reason for acquiring the business was to enhance the group's range of fast-growing, premium, and craft beers, positioning the full acquisition as a strategic portfolio move rather than a standalone operational play.

The Drygate facility, located in a 1930s former box factory adjacent to C&C's Wellpark brewery on Duke Street in Glasgow's East End, operates a craft brewing and retail facility alongside a bar, beer hall, and event venue.

The acquisition follows C&C's separate purchase of Edinburgh beer producer Innis and Gunn's brand earlier in 2026, reflecting a broader pattern of targeted consolidation within the Scottish craft beer sector by the Irish drinks group.
